New and Expanded Business

There’s lots of activity in a variety of business sectors.

Green Solutions North America Inc.

Green Solutions North America Inc. recycles assets such as furniture, supplies and equipment to keep them out of landfill sites and to reassign them to schools, non-profit groups and health facilities in need of additional resources.

"Green Solutions is an organization that recognizes the need for a simple, turnkey, cost-effective way to eliminate and re-purpose no-longer-needed facility assets," said Jim Reid, CEO of Green Solutions North America Inc. "And we are seeing a large increase in organizations across the board wanting to be part of what we do.

Part of the equations is the Trust Fund set up to distribute the recycled assets.

Green Solutions Charitable Trust (GSCT)/Green Solutions Foundation (GSF)

Green Solutions Foundation is a charitable organization registered in both Canada and in the United States. Our Canadian branch (GSCT) is registered as Green Standards North America Charitable Trust (Registration No. 854163169, name change pending to Green Solutions Charitable Trust). The US branch is Green Solutions Foundation, a registered American non-profit with 501c(3) status.

GSCT/GSF acquires redundant corporate assets including furniture, workstations and IT equipment and works to manage them in the most environmentally friendly manner possible. Many of these items have historically been added to the world’s landfills creating environmental hazards. As much of what is acquired is perfectly functional, the first aim is to redistribute items to charities, schools and needy organizations. What cannot be redistributed efficiently can usually be recycled. The founding mission has been to divert 1 million tons of redundant corporate assets from landfill and to furnish 1000 schools.

Windbag Company of Nova Scotia

One-of-a-kind bags made from the sails from some of the loveliest boats that have sailed the waters around Nova Scotia and beyond. Pauline Dickinson and her staff, located in Lunenburg, have made it their business to reuse textiles and fabrics, creating fantastic custom bags and totes. So far they have diverted at least 15,000 pounds of material from landfill!

Some of these bags have been created for specific “green” events & conferences and new designs are developed every day.
