Our harbours and rivers were once a main transportation route and thus the centre of industrial activity. Our waterways are still a major part of every town that sprang up around them, but now they are more for commercial, recreational and social purposes. That means that aging infrastructure must be spruced up and modern amenities added to make waterfront districts attractive and functional for residents and visitors. The Bridgewater Development Association is heading a project called “Riverfront Renaissance” which aims to beautify the Bridgewater waterfront along the gorgeous LaHave River. The Riverfront Renaissance Action Team's goal is to create a change or a "re-birth" in the riverfront bringing the Lahave River back to being the main focus of the town.
